Writing skills: Healthy recipe stickers
Healthy recipe stickers:
Eating healthy is a challenge nowadays, taking into consideration all the junk food around us. This activity will not only boost our students' writing skills by sharing a healthy recipe of their choice with their mate but also, it will help them develop their critical thinking while learning about what foods are good to keep their mind and body on fire!
Using the Topic Base Learning, this activity it is complementary with three other activities of the food block. It is fundamental to work in class the importance of keeping a balanced diet, mostly comprised by fresh fruits and vegetables, to avoid illnesses and obesity. It is a fact that the consumption of too much sugar and salt is not good for our health, and neither is to eat and drink to many french fries and soft drinks. Needless to say that we should avoid fast-food!
To boost your students' writing skills we should encourage our students to share their favourite healthy recipes with their mates. Enter in the pink link below named: "Healthy recipe stickers with Padlet" and post your recipe for others to read and thank you by a loving ❤.
Before the proposal of this activity, we need to work on three pre-writing activities:
1- A game with flashcards to work on food vocabulary, cooking verbs, cooking-ware.
2 - A sampling model on how to write a recipe and the proper linking words to make the cooking process nice and smooth.
3 - To introduce students to Padlet (if they are not already familiar.)
This is a fun and highly motivating activity that will enrich your English while giving you great cooking ideas:
To participate you need to follow the steps below:
1 - Find a good healthy recipe of your taste. If you do not come up with any, you may ask someone, look up in a cook book or make up your own creation. Just remember, it has to be healthy!!
2 - Read the recipe carefully and make sure you understand its preparation process.
3 - Write down on piece of paper all the ingredientes with its quantities.
4 - Look for all the ingredients and put them all on the kitchen counter.
5 - Make sure you have all the pots and pans required to prepare the recipe.
3 - Find someone to help you cook it and prepare it nicely. Supervision of an adult is required!
4 - Take a picture of the result.
4 - Post your recipe in Padlet: title of recipe, recipe, picture of result and your name is required.

Hi!
ReplyDeleteI just wanted to say congratulations on your blog. In addition to proposing very interesting activities, follow a thematic line that will make it easier for them to develop their work.
On the other hand, it is also important to work on food and healthy lifestyle habits with pupils, therefore, as a teacher, I am likely to implement these activities with them in the future.
